If you believe that there is no visit of Slovenia without going to Lake Bled, you are right. Since centuries Lake Bled has been famous for its picturesque scenery: natural island in the middle of the lake with castle on top of the cliff in the back and the Alps that are embracing both. After arrival to Lake Bled we will first take a local “pletna” boat and visit the island which is famous for its weddings and wishing bell inside the church. After we will visit the oldest Slovenian castle and learn all about life in castles. From the castle we will get the best view of the lake and area itself. After absorbing so much of beauty we will do lunch break in one of local restaurants.
After delicious lunch in local restaurant you will be taken to a beekeeping place, one of the best in Slovenia. Here you will learn all about lives of these busy little bees, why we would not have food without them, why beekeepers live longer etc. You will even have the rare chance to hold a beehive and to try to put your hand inside a Winnie-the-Pooh-style hive – Don’t worry, you won’t get stung! But of course you will not only learn things – you will also have the opportunity to taste several different delectable types of typical Slovenian honey, mead (the famous honey brandy), and healthy flower pollen – the best natural medicine for your immune system. With lots of fascinating stories in mind and satisified tummies, we will return back to Ljubljana.
DAY 1: Goriška region is known among Slovenians as their version of Tuscany. Its endless hills with medieval fortified settlements on top, and nearby Italian border proves they might be right. However, this region diserves not to be compared to no other place because of its unique mixture of Slovenian and Italian food, local authentic sorts of wines and its mild but harsh climate. Our first stop will be winery Movia, the most well known brand of Slovenian wines and a proof that if you know how to do it, your wines will become famous even among celebrities all around the world. After the tasting and entertaining represenation of their wines there will be time for lunch.
